Adventures in Coding; ch. 1.

I decided yesterday to add the plugins for “Related Posts” and “Title Optimization,” to this site.

I uploaded the files today and started configuration.

I had believed I had done it correctly. Alas, when I went to check it from another computer, the layout was askew. The header to be specific, was split to the outside edges of the page, rather than in the nice set up provided by the Tropical 1.0 theme.

To add insult, the Related Posts section was working on the Pages of the site, but not on the Posts. As a matter of fact, the Related Posts section that should have shown up on the Posts page, was showing up on the sidebar.

I have no idea what I did to mess it up, or what I did to fix it, but things seem to be working propperly at the moment. Whew.

While I am of the “old school” that codes HTML pages by hand (as I have since 1996), php coding is a new and exciting language that I’m learning to code with.

Why, when this is supposed to be our “professional” site, would I admit my difficulties, today?

Well, I’m not perfect, and I admit WP to be new for me. When challenges arise, I don’t deny them & I’ll hunt down the answer until the problem is solved.

And that, my friends, is what you want in a business partner.
