Q. How does Fifty Bucks turn into a life-saving business?

A. Through FINCA aka villagebanking.org.

FINCA makes micro-loans to the worlds poorest women, often mothers, to help them start businesses. The small businesses and home businesses that these micro-loans help start, allow these families to work themselves out of poverty.

Better than 97% of the loans are repaid in full, an amazing detail when I consider the rate of foreclosure in America.

The unintentional side effect, according to what Natalie Portman, one of the organization’s famous spokespeople, as said on “The View,” is that families that receive these micro-loans and grow the startups either improve, or abusive husbands are kicked out, leaving the women & children safer than before the small businesses and home businesses started.

A donation that many Americans would spend on a night out can build a business for a poor mother, somewhere else in the world, and save a family from poverty, famine, crime, prostitution, abuse, and illness. That is a wonderful thing.
