First of all, what hasn't profited:

I couldn’t think of an “M” word that is a synonym of analysis – let me know if you come up with one!

I’ve finished the analysis of some of my marketing experiments today. With some surprising results.

Keeping in mind that the majority of my ads are “below the fold” because I’d rather readers poke around inside this site, than leave it – I can now share with you which marketing experiments have produced profit, and which are being deleted.

First of all, what hasn’t profited:

AuctionAds – I liked the widget because it was pretty and colorful. I didn’t like the lack of control or how the ads that showed up had nothing to do with most that I write about on Center of Muse. After a three month trial – $0. It goes buh-bye.

Agloco – I joined because I like the idea of a community based around sharing revenue for being online. And as I am online a lot, it’s a no-brainer to use the Agloco Viewbar when I’m doing non-secure surfing. I don’t use it if I’m working on anything that’s password sensitive or belonging to a client. Just-in-case. The company has not turned a profit, yet, but as I am accumulating hours and “shares” – I’m going to continue to give Agloco more time. (Think about it- Amazon didn’t make a profit at first, either!)

Stay tuned for information on what affiliate programs and advertising experiments produced enough for me to keep them & strongly recommend them to you!

Music lovers may already know that The Police released a 2 disc compilation album called, plainly, “The Police” earlier this month. As of this month, fans across the globe could buy the latest offering by the highly acclaimed, talented (and might I say, still sexy?) pop stars on Amazon.

In honor of the band’s 30th Anniversary, and the 28 track career spanning compilation, they’ve released some awesomely interactive marketing pieces.

Please click on this to go and view an awesome banner where you can watch The Police’s videos, listen to tracks from The Police’s new 2 cd hits collection, enter to win a trip to NYC to see The Police in concert and even view details about their current world tour. It’s cool. Go do it, I’ll wait.

If you did it, you were rewarded with cool interactive content. Did you see the video? I love seeing the video & flashing back to my own memories of the 1980’s.

When the menu shows, you can click around for videos, track listings ( I’m listening to “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” as I write this post! How cool!) & even click the link to purchase ringtones for your phone!

One feature to not pass up is the contest. You could win a trip to see The Police play live in New York City at Madison Square Garden! (2008 update: Contest may be to a show elsewhere, but they do still have a contest open!) Or your own copy of “The Police,” by The Police! Or a DVD made by the drummer about what it’s like being in one of the worlds most famous pop / rock bands.

Before you’re done, don’t forget to get tour information – you wont want to miss these guys live. If you manage to score a backstage pass, see if you can get Sting to show you a few yoga moves!

And last, but not least, if you love The Police & love rockin’ out to their hits from the late 70’s, early 80’s, you must get this 2 CD set. It even has the band’s very first single, from 1977.

This is probably the coolest banner ad I have ever seen or featured on any of my sites. It’s fabulous. How much time can you waste having fun with this?
